ABOUT WORLD CANINE

MEET CHRIS.
MEET THE METHOD.

Dog training built around understanding the dog, teaching the handler, and moving at a pace where both can learn.

Why World Canine exists

Christopher Murley founded World Canine in Poughkeepsie to help owners facing everyday training challenges and difficult behavior alike. His goal is to give people practical answers while treating them and their dogs with care and respect.

Chris credits his former trainer and mentor Robert H. Conklin of Hudson Valley K9 Academy as a major influence on his approach. The emphasis is on building trust and connection between dog and handler, rather than relying on fear to gain compliance.

The training approach

Training begins with observing the dog in front of us. Temperament, confidence, energy, and previous experiences all matter. We build communication in manageable steps and move forward when the dog and owner are ready.

Owners take part in lessons. You learn what to notice, how to handle your dog, and how to practice between sessions so the skills have a place in daily life. Especially with serious behavior cases, the evaluation helps us set a realistic plan and discuss safety.
